What started out sometime in the middle of 2006 by Kevin Rhodes at the now defunct music hall, bella festa has morphed into an awesome monthly performing showcase for the area’s music makers. We have hosted more than 150 performers (and counting) from wilmington and the surrounding areas for twenty consecutive “first tuesday.” Our home, of late, is the Whiskey and along with The Beat Magazine and the local radio station WHQR (91.3 FM) we have built a solid evening of music for this community.
A variety of musical genres have shared the stage at some point along the journey: indie, pop, contemporary, acoustic, noise, bluegrass, rock-a-billy, rock’n'roll, ambient, hip hop, jazz, classical, etc… we hold no bars when it comes to music. Each performance consists of 4 or 5 acts playing 25-30 minute sets of original compositions and appropriate cover tunes. The night starts at 7pm and typically ends at 10pm. There is never a cover–the performers are not compensated…but they do appreciate your attendance.
